The client stated that he had been in a state of intense anxiety for the last year, and that this anxiety state, which he had difficulty in controlling, negatively affected his daily life. Seeing that the intense anxiety he experienced did not decrease over time, on the contrary, it continued to increase, the client applied for professional support. At the beginning of the therapy, the client was informed about Generalized Anxiety Disorder and its treatment process. Direct questions and directed discovery techniques were applied in order to help the client get out of this anxiety state, to gain awareness about the situation and to reveal the emotions and thoughts he experienced. With the applied techniques and treatment process, the emergence and re- evaluation of anxiety-causing situations was carried out. Behavioral and intellectual changes were observed as a result of the treatment applied.
Elif YEĞENEĞA Meryem KARAAZİZ Copyright (c) 2024 ASES INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CULTURE, ART AND LITERATURE (ISSN: 3023-5480) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-20 2024-12-20 4 1 138 144 10.5281/zenodo.15697765 An Examination Of The Movie “The Story Of Us” With The Approach Of Couples Therapy Using The Method Of Film Analyses https://e-jcal.com/index.php/jcal/article/view/26
The Story of Us tells the rollercoaster story of Katie and her husband Ben, who struggle to
maintain their 15-year marriage. Through flashbacks, the movie shows the happy and sad
moments from when they first met to the day they arrived. The couple, who pretend to be happy
in order not to show it to their children, decide to re-evaluate their relationship when their
children leave home for camp, after which the spouses attend couple therapy and try to improve
their relationship. In this study, the Emotion Focused Therapy model, which is a sub-model of
the Experiential Approaches developed by Carl Whitaker and Virginia Satir, and the movie The
Story of Us will be examined together. Developed by Greenberg and Johnson, Emotion Focused
Therapies emphasize the experiences of clients by drawing attention to the prominence of
emotions in therapy. In this study, the aims of Emotion Focused Therapy, its basic concepts,
the way it is applied and how to use it in film analysis are covered. The purpose of choosing
the Emotion Focused Therapy model in the analysis is that it is the most appropriate therapy
method for the characters in the movie and for solving the problems between the couple. Film
analysis method will be used in this study. The film analysis method is very popular recently
and attracts people's attention more easily because people have the opportunity to look at the
way of life and problems in their daily lives from the outside and empathize with them through
the films they watch. As a result, the film, which contains this family picture that we can
encounter in our normal lives, has started to be examined because it will be a frequent subject
of couple and family therapies, to guide new film analysis and to contribute to Emotion Focused
Therapy methods.
Lila CEMGÜNAL Meryem KARAAZİZ Copyright (c) 2024 ASES INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CULTURE, ART AND LITERATURE (ISSN: 3023-5480) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2024-12-20 2024-12-20 4 1 145 151 10.5281/zenodo.15702944 Childhood Disorders in Social Media https://e-jcal.com/index.php/jcal/article/view/35
Beyond biological perception, the perception of age changes with the effects of social media on
community life and the view of the child has changed considerably over time. The main purpose of the research is to reveal the historical development of the perception of beauty, to analyze how the media shapes this perception today, and to discuss how an identity and consumption pressure is created through the woman's body in this process. Especially aesthetic norms created through tools such as advertisements, fashion magazines and social media transform the female body into both a consumption object and a representation of the ideal lifestyle.

In this study, the systematic review method was used; in this context, the process of constructing the image of beauty through the female body was comprehensively analyzed from historical, sociological and psychological perspectives. Through a meticulous review of academic studies in the literature, how beauty was defined in different periods, which social dynamics shaped it, and how it constituted a norm especially on the female body were discussed. The main findings of the study reveal that the ideal of beauty is not a universal or biologically fixed set of criteria; on the contrary, it is a social construction created in a certain historical context, within a certain cultural framework, in accordance with ideological needs.

As a result, women are constantly presented with unattainable, perfectionist body images through the media and the advertising industry, resulting in psychological effects such as inadequacy, erosion of self-perception and alienation from the body. Beauty is no longer an individual choice; it is a social norm and an object of consumption. The findings of the study reveal that beauty images reproduce women's social roles and imprison women in an illusion of freedom based on aesthetics and consumption. In this context, the study makes important contributions in terms of media literacy, gender equality and critical evaluation of women's representations.
Serkan NACAK Fatma Ebru İKİZ Copyright (c) 2025 ASES INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CULTURE, ART AND LITERATURE (ISSN: 3023-5480) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2025-06-20 2025-06-20 4 1 161 185 10.5281/zenodo.15705217 A Prominent Figure in Japanese Literary And Social Thought, Mishima Yukio https://e-jcal.com/index.php/jcal/article/view/56
The writer is a member of the society in which they live, and their works are closely tied to that society’s values, contradictions, and transformations. The life and work of Mishima Yukio are among the clearest examples of this idea. The main phase of Mishima’s literary career coincides with the second half of the 20th century – a period marked by dynamic and flexible development in modern Japanese literature. After the devastation of World War II, Japanese writers sought to express the profound social, political, and cultural changes experienced by society through literature. This era was characterized by the emergence of new literary tendencies that reflected the traumas of the past and the complexities brought about by modernization and globalization. In postwar Japanese literature, the clash between traditional values and modernity emerged as a central theme. In this context, Mishima Yukio stands out as a writer who consistently explored the degradation of Japanese national identity and national ideals, and the necessity of preserving traditional ideals. Mishima advocated for a return to Japan’s traditional values and the restoration of the emperor system. Unwilling to accept the defeat of the society he represented, Mishima ended his life in 1970, at the age of 45, through harakiri – a striking indication that he recognized no boundary between art and life, and sought to realize his ideals in both realms.

As one of the most unique literary figures in Japanese literature, Mishima Yukio’s life and work construct a world where tradition collides with modernity, and beauty with death – inviting readers to explore this complex world.
Gülnar YUNUSOVA Copyright (c) 2025 ASES INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CULTURE, ART AND LITERATURE (ISSN: 3023-5480) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2025-06-20 2025-06-20 4 1 186 193 10.5281/zenodo.15705271 A Study of the Sinekli Bakkal Novel in the Context of the Novel of Female Formation https://e-jcal.com/index.php/jcal/article/view/58
The female bildungsroman is a genre that has been shaped in relation to the formation novel (bildungsroman). The Formation novel (bildungsroman) emerged in 18 th century German literature. It is accepted that literary and historical research on the genre began with Wilhelm Dilthey. Goethe’s work, Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship Memoirs, which was written in 18 th century German literature, is considered the first example of this genre. The subject of the formation novel (bildungsroman), examples of which can be found in German literatüre, Turkişh literatüre, English, French and other world literatures, includes the maturation process of an individual within society, depending on life conditions. In this context, the first examples of the bildungsroman genre were examined through male individuals in relation to the masculine social structure. The fact that individuals costituting the social structure have to gender identities, male and female, and different social roles and statuses has led to differentiation of maturation and formation processes. The events situations, changes, transformations that occur within the social structure and the factors that arise depending on these factors have had different effects on male an female individuals. In this context, the examination of gender identities in the 18 th and 19 th centuries necessitated confronting the question of what constitutes female development (Ellis, 1999: 21). Fraiman also stated that the formation processes of female individuals follow a different path than male individuals. He classified the works written within the scope of the formation novel (bildungsroman) as “female text” and “male text” and emphasized that it would be a more accurate method to examine these works depending on the gender identity of the main characters (Fraiman, 1993: 12). As a result of the evaluations of many researchers who have studied the formation novel (bildungsroman), it has been found more accurate to examine the formation proccesses of female characters under the title of female formation novel (female bildungsroman). Accordingly, the female bildungsroman genre emerged, and the formation and maturation processes of female characters depending on their gender roles and social status were examined. Some researchers have stated that this genre emerged in the 19 th century as a result of feminist literary theory. Felski has associated feminist literary theory with woman, texts, and the ideological structures they affect as social subjects. She has stated that these texts are related to historical, political and cultural structures. She has defined feminist literary theory as “a way of producing meaning, a construction of gender identity that utulizes intersubjective cultural and ideological frameworks rather than a more or less accurate representation of a given female reality without any problems” (Felski, 1989: 8, 9) It has been determined that there are many examples of the female bildungsroman, which is also associated with the structures emphasized by Felski, in Turkish literature. As a result of the research and the inferences obtained, it has been determined that the novel Sinekli Bakkal falls within the scope of the female formation novel. Rabia’s female formation process has been examined in the context of historical, political, cultural, and Social factors experienced in society.

Miyase YAVUZ Copyright (c) 2025 ASES INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CULTURE, ART AND LITERATURE (ISSN: 3023-5480) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 2025-06-20 2025-06-20 4 1 194 208 10.5281/zenodo.15705320 Analysis of Fashion Trends in Women's Wedding Clothes https://e-jcal.com/index.php/jcal/article/view/59
Strict rules and boundaries have become outdated. The film begins with Nash demonstrating his mathematical genius at Princeton University at a young age. However, over time, he begins to show signs of paranoid schizophrenia and has difficulty distinguishing reality from fantasy. Nash struggles to maintain both his career and family life while living in a world full of imaginary characters and conspiracies. With the support of his wife Alicia, he goes through a difficult treatment process and eventually learns to live with his illness and achieves great success in the world of mathematics. The film addresses perseverance, love, and the complexity of the human mind. This study aims to examine the film “A Beautiful Mind” in the context of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a postmodern therapy school that comes from the cognitive-behavioral tradition. Psychological flexibility, one of the basic concepts of ACT, basically includes the ability of individuals to cope with difficult thoughts and emotions, to be open to these experiences, and to take actions based on their values. Psychological rigidity is the opposite concept to psychological flexibility. Scenes and expressions that can be associated with these concepts were examined in the film. In this study, the document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In this process, the family plays a critical role for children to discover and develop their artistic talents. The influence of the family in art education is of great importance in terms of both increasing children's motivation and encouraging their participation in artistic activities. The role of the family in arts education is undeniably important. Families should provide support to their children by creating artistic environments, creating appropriate environments for their knowledge, skills and artistic abilities. Parents can develop their talents and skills by participating in artistic environments and directing their children to such artistic activities. Art education not only develops an individual's artistic skills, but also contributes to their emotional and social development. Families play a key role in their children's artistic journeys as important supporters in this process. Providing a supportive environment, modeling, offering emotional support and contributing educationally are the main duties of families in art education. As a result, the interest and support of families in art will positively affect children's artistic development and make them more creative individuals. Created by Henri Matisse in 1911, “The Painter's Family” is a vivid and captivating expression of the artist's mastery and a set of values and emotions that nourish his personal life. As seen in the example of Henri Matisse, the contribution of art to education is to help people develop their aesthetic perception, taste and skills, as well as to help preserve their cultural and social values.

The aim of the study is to make families aware of their children's artistic skills at an early age and direct them to art, as seen in the example of Henri Matisse. This study explores the representation of interfaith harmony through the TikTok content of @evelynhutani, a non-Muslim Chinese-Indonesian content creator whose humorous yet meaningful videos about the takjil-sharing tradition have gone viral. Using a qualitative research method, this study analyzes content narratives, visual elements, and user responses to understand how messages of togetherness and tolerance are conveyed and received on digital platforms. The results show that the War Takjil tradition is not only a moment of sharing food but also a reflection of inclusive values that bring together individuals of different faiths. Through entertaining and relatable storytelling, @evelynhutani’s content successfully breaks religious boundaries and fosters a spirit of mutual respect. Social media, especially TikTok, proves to be a powerful tool for promoting interreligious dialogue in informal yet effective ways. Audience interactions reveal a strong public appreciation for such content, indicating that positive, humorous digital expressions can foster empathy and coexistence in a multicultural society. Furthermore, War Takjil activities contribute economically by supporting small local businesses during Ramadan.
