Manuscript Evaluation Process

After submission to the Ases International Journal of Culture, Art and Literature (e-JCAL) system, manuscripts undergo editorial evaluation and plagiarism check. If no issues are found in the similarity report, the peer review process is initiated.

Manuscripts must include the authors' names, titles, institutions, departments, city of the institution, and ORCID IDs. During the peer review process, editors remove author names to ensure a double-blind review system.

All submissions are first evaluated by the editors for compliance with the journal's writing and publication guidelines. If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the author for correction. If the manuscript is compliant in terms of format, writing, and publication rules, it is forwarded to reviewers.

Manuscripts not complying with writing guidelines are returned without being sent for peer review. Furthermore, manuscripts lacking scientific content or contribution may be rejected after editorial review.

In the double-blind peer review process, the identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential. Reviewers have an average of 30 days to complete their evaluations. If a report is not submitted within this period, a new reviewer is assigned. Manuscripts receiving favorable reviewer reports are accepted for publication.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Consistency between title and content

  • Scientific quality and originality

  • Appropriateness of language and expression

  • Approach and scope of the topic

  • Content coherence

  • Use of original and primary sources

  • Access to recent scientific studies and sources

  • Contribution to the field

  • Command of terminology

  • Clarity, style, comprehensibility, and fluency

  • Strength of conclusions

Reviewers may request to re-evaluate revised manuscripts before publication. If such a request is stated in their report, the revised manuscript is sent back to the reviewer.

Authors may appeal reviewer reports with reasonable and convincing justifications. Appeals are reviewed by the editorial team, and if deemed appropriate, additional reviewers may be consulted.

Authors can track the status of their submissions through their accounts in the system. The peer review process must be followed carefully. As the system allows only one change submission, all reviewer evaluations and revisions should be completed before resubmission.

Editors monitor the corrections requested by reviewers and make final decisions on publication or rejection accordingly.

A copyright agreement is required during submission. However, if necessary, the editors or editorial board may additionally request a copyright transfer agreement from the authors.

Articles published in e-JCAL may be used with proper citation of the journal name. All legal responsibility for unauthorized use without citation rests with the user.
